Day 4 – Paris

Day at leisure to browse the city or The Loire experience

This is perhaps the most vaunted excursion out of Paris las it brings together an opulent past nestled in vineyards with lovely Chateaus that are a living embodiment of Renaissance architecture with Da Vinci and Medici connection. We strongly recommend... you’ll have something to talk about!

But for this, an early start by 6.45 am in the wonderful journey to the Loire valley... it’s not just an excursion... it’s an experience!

The first stop is Chambord Castle, the most majestic and visited in the Loire Valley. It is a living embodiment of Renaissance architecture, and you will discover how this was the most ambitious and expensive architectural project undertaken by a French monarch. Chambord Castle is every bit the castle you would expect and is complete with astounding staircases, one reportedly designed by Leonardo da Vinci, as well as a land filled with red deer and wild boar.

Then visit Nitray private castle and vineyards. Here we enjoy a delicious home-cooked lunch using local ingredients, with a chance to sample some of the region’s best wines. The owner will take you to the pigeon-house and you will have free time to explore the grounds at your own pace before we make our way to our final stop...the Chenonceau Castle, the so-called ‘Château de Dames’. The castle holds testament to a history of leading female owners who all added to the construction and design of this attractive castle... its arches over the Loire River and the manicured gardens.

Lastly, the fortress bridge that crosses River Cher. The castle, in addition to being used to celebrate dances and parties, also served as a hospital during World War I and as a refuge in World War II. Its beautiful gardens are just as charming as the castle itself.

Day 5 – Paris – Lyon

Today we take the TGV to the gourmet capital of France.

In the morning there is a possibility to visit Monet’s Garden (the famous painter’s private garden... it’s the most famous garden in France and is visited by over 500,000 people annually in summer. If you are a painting buff, this is a must-visit. Let us know if you have an interest. It is s half-day visit after which we take the TGV to Lyon... a short ride on 2 hours+.

Alternately we can take a morning train.

Arrive Lyon and proceed to hotel and check-in. The town centre is over a small area and allows for private exploration.

Lyon, the capital city in France’s Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, sits at the junction of the Rhône and Saône rivers. Its center reflects 2,000 years of history from the Roman Amphithéâtre des Trois Gaules, medieval and Renaissance architecture in Vieux (Old) Lyon, to the modern Confluence district on Presqu'île peninsula. Traboules covered passageways between buildings, connect Vieux Lyon and La Croix-Rousse hill.

We include a hop-off hop-on tour to see the town at leisure... there is also an option to see the city on foot with a local English-speaking guide.

Excursions out of Lyon for visits to wine yards outside the city are available.

Day 7 – Lyon – Nice

Today we head for Nice in a TGV train ride of app 6hrs & check in to hotel. The smell of the air is refreshing as we get our first impression of the Queen of the Riviera. Step out for a stroll... you feel younger!

We normally book clients at hotels on or close to Promenade de Anglais... dare we say it’s a bit like our Marine drive in Mumbai!

After a wander around the village where every street is full of charm and history, our tour then takes us to Monaco, for a visit to the Cathedral where Princess Grace is buried, the Palace and for a drive along the Formula One race circuit.

Of course, any Monaco tour would not be complete without a stroll around Monte-Carlo with its Casino, superb hotels and beautiful gardens.

Evening you may wish to go again to Monte Carlo when the dusk falls. the drive during the day is great... evening it’s brilliant and glittering... we let you experience Mont Carlo is about an hour’s drive from Nice and there are 3 routes cut along the mountain... the inferior Corniche, the Moyneune Corniche and the Gran corniche.
