On top of being a must for shopping, Le Caudan Waterfront is also a business Centre, a melting pot for local artists and the favourite meeting place for gastronomes, tourists and locals looking for leisure and entertainment. Le Caudan Waterfront is definitely the most elegant and popular destination for Mauritians and tourists. From colonial relics to beautiful gardens, Curepipe has a lot to offer visitors. Its cooler temperatures compared with coastal regions, thanks to its position in the rainy uplands in the centre of the island, in the Plaines-Wilheimes, Curepipe gives some respite from the heat of the beaches. Curepipe is also the place to be for those of you who like a bit of a gamble ! Of all the casinos in Mauritius, the one at Curepipe is certainly the biggest and most famous. If you decide to go there, make sure you have time to spare because the casino has no fewer than one hundred and fifty slot machines as well as Roulette, Blackjack and Poker tables where you can try your luck!

Next we drive to the most sacred of all is the Grand Bassin or Ganga Talao, a sacred lake found at about 1800 feet above sea level and just 2km east of Le Pétrin and one of the most important hindu pilgrimage sites outside of India.

According to a legend the crater lake is connected with the holy river Ganges. The god Shiva, the transformer and destroyer, and his wife Parvati were flying around the world in a ship. Shiva wanted to show Parvati the most beautiful places on earth, so they stopped in Mauritius. During the journey, Shiva was carrying the river Ganges on his head, to prevent the earth from floodings. When they wanted to land in Mauritius, Shiva accidentally spilled water of the holy river into the crater and this is how Grand Bassin emerged.

We then visit The Black River Gorges which is the largest national park in Mauritius. Famous for its waterfalls, vistas and hiking, the gorge is in the central highlands, making it cooler than much of the island.

The "Black River Gorges" National Park is a national park in the hilly south-western part of Mauritius. The park extends over an area of 6,754 hectares. With the help of the guides, you will discover Mauritius' natural heritage in this unique area which is also the location of one of the rarest forests in the world.
